Company Overview
GLOBE UAV GmbH is a German developer of professional unmanned aircraft systems specializing in long-range BVLOS operations. Its platforms support a wide range of applications, including public safety, emergency response, industrial inspections, logistics and medical transport, while leveraging cellular network connectivity for reliable long-distance communications.
The Challenge
Medical drone operations beyond visual line of sight require advanced cooperative surveillance capabilities to ensure safe integration with other airspace users and compliance with aviation regulations.
The project required a solution that could:
- Support safe BVLOS operations
- Enhance situational awareness
- Provide interoperability with FLARM-equipped aircraft
- Increase visibility to general aviation and helicopters
- Minimize size, weight and power consumption (SWaP)
- Support regulatory approval for medical flight operations
Why Aerobits?
GLOBE UAV selected Aerobits because of its expertise in compact avionics and cooperative surveillance technologies. The TR-1F combines ADS-B and licensed FLARM functionality in one of the world's smallest UAV transceivers, offering a lightweight Plug & Play solution optimized for professional BVLOS applications.
Its integrated GNSS receiver, built-in barometric sensor and low-SWaP architecture enabled seamless integration without compromising aircraft performance.
The Solution
Aerobits supplied the TR-1F ADS-B/FLARM transceiver for integration into GLOBE UAV's medical UAV platform.
The integrated solution enables simultaneous ADS-B IN & OUT functionality together with licensed FLARM communication, providing continuous cooperative surveillance and supporting Detect & Avoid concepts during BVLOS missions.
Its compact Plug & Play architecture simplified integration while improving aircraft visibility for general aviation, helicopters and other FLARM-equipped aircraft operating in shared airspace.
The implementation also supported the certification and approval process for urban medical transport trials.
